The reporter learned from the State Grid Qinghai electric power company on the 10th that by the end of 2020, the total installed capacity of Qinghai power grid will reach 40.3 million kilowatts, of which 24.45 million kilowatts of new energy will be installed, accounting for more than 60% of the total installed capacity of the whole grid, reaching 60.7%. Photovoltaic will surpass hydropower and become the largest power source in the province. At the same time, with the expansion of new energy installed capacity, the clean energy installed capacity of Qinghai power grid has reached 36.38 million KW, accounting for more than 90%.
Qinghai is located in the hinterland of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, known as the “source of three rivers” and “water tower of China”. It is rich in water, wind, light and other clean energy resources, and has outstanding advantages in developing clean energy. With the implementation of the new development concept of “ecological protection first”, Qinghai has made great efforts to build a national clean energy demonstration province and two ten million kilowatt renewable energy bases in Haixi and Hainan.
On December 30, 2020, Qinghai Henan ± 800 kV HVDC project, the world’s first long-distance new energy transmission channel, will be fully completed and put into operation. The project is the first UHV transmission channel to support the large-scale development and planning of Qinghai new energy by State Grid Co., Ltd. The UHV channel project and the supporting new energy power transmission and transformation project have been successively constructed and put into operation, which strongly supports the development of energy pillar industry, green industry and poverty alleviation in Qinghai. In 2020, there will be 87 new grid connected new energy stations in Qinghai power grid, with an installed capacity of 8.61 million kilowatts, and two 10 million kilowatt renewable energy bases in Qinghai will be fully completed.
With the increase of new energy installed capacity, the clean energy power generation in Qinghai will reach 84.7 billion kwh in 2020, of which the new energy power generation will reach 24.9 billion kwh. 84.7 billion kwh of clean electricity is equivalent to replacing 38.11 million tons of raw coal, promoting the emission reduction of 62.68 million tons of carbon dioxide, and promoting energy conservation and emission reduction.
Affected by the superposition of economic growth and extremely cold weather, the load level of Qinghai power grid is growing rapidly. Since November 2020, the maximum power load of Qinghai power grid has reached a record high for 19 times and the daily power consumption has reached a record high for 17 times. On December 29, 2020, the daily power generation of new energy in Qinghai will reach a new record. Fang Baomin, director of the dispatching and control center of State Grid Qinghai electric power company, said that new energy has promoted the consumption in the province and provided strong support for the stable supply of electric power, which is inseparable from the continuous increase of construction efforts of Qinghai power grid and driving the development of new energy industry.
