Solar Panels: Harnessing the Power of the Sun

Solar panels, also known as photovoltaic (PV) panels, are innovative devices that convert sunlight directly into electrical energy, offering a clean, renewable alternative to fossil fuels. Composed of interconnected solar cells—typically made from silicon, a semiconductor material—these panels leverage the photovoltaic effect, a phenomenon where sunlight’s photons knock electrons loose from atoms, generating an electric current.

The core structure of a solar panel includes multiple PV cells wired together, encased in a protective glass layer, and backed by a durable frame to withstand outdoor conditions like wind, rain, and temperature fluctuations. Modern panels come in two primary types: monocrystalline and polycrystalline. Monocrystalline panels, made from a single silicon crystal, boast higher efficiency (15-22%) and a sleek black appearance, ideal for space-constrained areas. Polycrystalline panels, crafted from multiple silicon fragments, are more cost-effective with slightly lower efficiency (13-16%),
